What Makes 'The Summer Triangle' ?

This is outlined by three stars: Vega, Deneb & Altair. The asterism 'The Northern Cross' (in the constellation Cygnus) is often used to locate targets in this part of the sky.

Altair is close to the Earth at only 16.7 Light years away. It is mentioned in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, the Star Trek original series & in Doctor Who.
